Location: The Abbey, Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire OX14 4AF
All are welcome.
Helen would like you to join with her and Charlotte and Dylan at the Abbey in Sutton Courtney south of Oxford for an afternoon and evening of Greek food, music, mindfulness and community.
As many other European countries closed their borders in response to the refugee crisis, over 50,000 people became stranded in camps across Greece. Already struggling with their own economic meltdown, Greeks tried hard to care humanely for those people.
Over time, it became apparent how much the Greeks themselves were struggling with their own economic crisis. Mindfulness MK decided however to continue raising money to help the Greeks of that area. All help was received very gratefully – often with tears – and has genuinely made a big difference.
And so the fundraising goes on!!! Everything raised will be distributed flexibly between the two orphanages (Drama and Kavala) and the church locally.
Many thanks in advance for your support in helping the Greeks, who have themselves opened their hearts to other people in need.
You have the option of arriving at 15:00 for a Mindfulness session until 18:00 or to come at 18:30 for a delicious freshly cooked Greek meal. The evening will continue with music from a small choir from the Greek Society at Oxford University, drinks and an opportunity for Helen to talk about the work in Greece with families and children.
You then have an option to stay the night at the Abbey which will be followed by a Sunday morning yoga session with Helen at 08:30 to 09:30. The retreat will then end after breakfast on the Sunday morning.
Costs to stay the night at the Abbey – £35 for a single room and £45 for two sharing a twin room. This includes a simple Abbey breakfast. A payment of £15 is asked for the food and entertainment
Please contact us if you wish to book a room.
Donations to the work in Greece can be made via a cheque to Helen Stephenson or you can ask her for her bank details for direct transfer.
