Mindfulness teacher training: MBCT Teacher Development TD2

Helen is a co-trainer with entermindfulness and assists with the presentation of their courses normally in South London

Teacher Development Level 1 (TD1)

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8-week MBSR OR MBCT course attendance
  • Minimum 6-month mindfulness/meditation practice
  • Attendance at ONE 5-day mindfulness/meditation retreat or a few 1-2 day retreats
  • Study MBCT for Dummies & Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression

This non-residential* training workshop (on line and at our venue in Honor Oak Park, SE23) will facilitate the deepening of your personal mindfulness practice.

The main focus will be on developing sound teaching skills in MBCT meditation and skills in inquiry and dialogue. The course is self-directed in parts but also includes a number of interactive and experiential elements. You will be required to demonstrate teaching skills in small groups and discuss your experiences with one another, as well as actively doing meditation homework and demonstrations.

Course Overview

The training is in line with established MBCT trainer training standards (see UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations). It consists of a minimum of 30 hours of direct teaching and supervision, includes triad practice on line and requires reading the course hand-out prior to attending the live training in London. We only train a maximum of 12 participants (thus ensuring a student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1). The course fee includes basic refreshments but not meals.

Teacher Development Level 2 (TD2)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previously attended an MBCT Teacher Development Part 1 course
  • Experience of teaching at least three 8-week mindfulness-based programmes under personal supervision
  • Experience of participation in either 1 x 5-day silent guided retreat or 2 x 2-3 day silent guided retreats
  • Regular personal practice and some awareness of recent research and have read at least 2 recent publications in the field of MBCT

This non-residential five-day training workshop at our venue in Honor Oak Park, SE23 is designed to respond to the growing need for practicing mindfulnessbased teachers to take their development and learning process deeper. Participants will have developed their teaching practice to the point of being able to explore ways to refine their existing skills, further develop an understanding of the teaching of MBCT and its underpinning themes drawn from the different worlds of science and dharma. They will also delve into the ‘person of the teacher’ – the way in which each of us relates to ourselves, the individuals, the group and the teaching process itself.
